The mobile game industry, which has grown considerably in recent years, attracts the attention of especially young children. However, parents who complain about this situation are uncomfortable with their children playing games at night.
Tencent, one of the biggest companies in the mobile game industry, has developed a different solution to prevent children in China from playing late at night.
Currently, facial recognition has been activated in 60 different mobile games of Tencent, including Honor of Kings and Game for Peace.
DISABLES UNDER 18
The facial recognition system is activated when a user tries to enter the game between 10 pm and 8 am and detects the player’s identity. If the child is under the age of 18, the game is not allowed to be played.
Recently, the Chinese government has tried various methods to keep children away from games, but none of them have been successful.
The facial recognition system that Tencent has implemented may ignite new privacy problems in the country.
